Bulletin Display Interest?

Ms. Waterman and I are looking for some volunteers that would be willing to come in and create a new background for our upcoming end of year units! We are looking for any creative parents that can create an outdoor background (grass, many trees, sun, clouds, etc). Please let me know if you are willing and able as well as dates/times! Thank you. I look forward to emails! :)

Poetry Celebration

Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a great April Vacation with the family! A notice will be coming home tomorrow in regards to a Poetry Celebration that will take place in the classroom on June 3rd. It is just a notice to save the date! Each student will share some of their favorite pieces of poetry to the families in the audience. I hope you can make it! The kids have been working very hard.

Here are some pictures of recent activities the last week or two before vacation.

15 Minutes of Fame

Hunter brought in some great fishing gear to share for his 15 minutes of fame! He was able to teach the class about the different types of fishing rods and hooks. He also had a shark's jaw! Hunter is very knowledgeable about fishing! Here are some pictures!

A Couple Updates

Hi Families,
Last week we ended weekly sight word homework. These packets will no longer be coming home. I do encourage you to continue to practice any words on the word ring that your child has trouble identifying. The reading homework will continue for a few more weeks as well as Math homework.

This Thursday I will be attending the Literacy for All conference in Quincy ( I will get to listen to Lucy Calkins present!) so I will not be in school.

The students continue to work hard in their book clubs. I am impressed with the discussion that takes place within the clubs. Students are learning to find important vocabulary words related to their topic as well as important facts. They are learning that they can find factual information within fictional books.  They will present their posters this week and then students will begin in new book clubs.

We are working hard in our poetry unit and the students are loving writing poems. They are learning that poems can be about anything and that poems need "music". We will be having a poetry celebration in May. More information will be coming!

Here are a few pictures of recent activities!

Today we talked about police officers working to protect our community. We read a nonfiction book and then the students wrote cards to be sent to the Plymouth Police Department. Here is Cole working on his card!
