First Day!

I am sure your kiddos are going to sleep easy tonight! It was a long day for them and they will need to get used to all of the routines and daily schedule. The students may say they are so tired or complain that they don't want to go to school. Don't be alarmed, this is very typical in the beginning!! They will adjust!  Today we took a tour of the building, read a story about feelings and charted how we felt on the first day using post-its, read a book about manners and discussed good behaviors in the classroom, discussed some of our daily routines and our behavior clip charts which will start tomorrow. Students also did a great job at lunch! Please email me with any questions! I am sending home a paper to sign to let me know if you will allow photos of your child on this blog. Please send it back by Tuesday as I am eager to get some pictures up!

Bus/Walker/Car/YMCA?

Hi Families!
I am working on my dismissal chart and would LOVE if you could drop me an email to confirm your child's end of day procedure. I do have a list of some students with bus numbers but always feel more comfortable with as much information as possible. Thank you!!

A Warm Welcome (and some important information)!

Hi Families!
I can't believe it is time for a new school year! I am busy preparing the classroom for your children. I look forward to meeting them as well as all of you. I encourage you to send me an email before school begins to say hi and ask any questions you may need the answer to before the first day. jmorgan@plymouth.k12.ma.us

As far as supplies go, I will not need students to bring too much. I put together special O.W.L. binders for each child that are important communication notebooks. These include folders so I don't need you to supply any folders. I will send home a notice about the OWL binders the first week of school.

I recommend the plain plastic colored pencil boxes that open at the top that you can get at Target, Michael's or even the Dollar Tree. These are easy to store in our pencil box tubs that are placed on our tables.

Students will need pencils, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, and if they choose to bring in their own pair of scissors they may. I will also have table baskets that include pencils, crayons, markers, scissors and glue should students run out. It helps to ask your child what he or she may need replenished throughout the year. To start, one or two glue sticks in their pencil box is perfect. :)

If you can do so, I strongly encourage you to have already opened their boxes of crayons, pencils, and supplies to be emptied and already inside their pencil box. This saves a lot of time that morning on the first day of school!

We will be having a snack break in the morning. I am a peanut/tree nut free classroom which means that their snack should be safe. (This is separate from lunch. Lunch CAN include peanut butter but can't be taken out in the classroom). Please provide a healthy snack and a drink for snack time.  Students will be able to purchase milk for snack time so if this is what your child chooses to do on the first day, please provide 50 cents (exact change only) in a marked baggie for this first day. Please also make sure your child knows what this money is for. :)

That is it for now. Please be sure to check back every so often as I try to update at least twice a week. You may want to save this link in your favorites or become a "follower" so that you get an update when I have posted something new. Thank you so much!!
